What's up everyone?! Happy 2024! Can't believe we are already here! Some highlights from this past year for me include:
- Family Disney Cruise
- Finishing my first year of college (Shoutout to all of my BYU peeps!)
- Wedding of my sister Brenna
- Recieving my mission call and starting my mish
- Yard work and waverunning with James, Allie, and my brother from another mother: Truman!

Wednesday - MISSION DEVOCIONAL! We talked about the importance of "Councils" and some of my take aways were that in a council, everyone has pieces of revelation and we work together to share this revelation and insight to do The LORD'S WILL, not to try and persuade people to do our will. One of my favorite quotes that President shared was this:
"Every day search, recognize, and follow the Holy Ghost and you will never leave the Gospel" - President Bikman
(Truly this is the Goal we strive for to have eternal conversion to the gospel of Christ)
While we were talking with a recent convert, Elder Da Silva shared a message that Christ taught that we need to be like little kids and while we were walking, Elder Da Silva would say things like, "Elder Fisher, we need to be like little kids and play soccer" or "we need to be like little kids and eat some candy". So life lesson, when in doubt, be like a child and follow what they do!🤣 Today I also had a "Proud Dad" moment! We were teaching this man named Auceu about baptism and while Auceu was talking a lot about other things, Elder Da Silva took charge and invited Auceu to be baptized and he accepted! I WAS SO PROUD!!🥹 MY LITTLE BOY IS GROWING UP!

Thursday - While having lunch today at this truck stop like diner, I could make out some of the words from the music and realized it was Dan and Shay! Apparently they have new music, but it was nice to hear some music from home again and feel like I was traveling across the States again by eating at a diner. Another cool moment while we were teaching someone, is a HUMMINGBIRD APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE! I DIDN'T THINK THEY EXISTED HERE! I may have lost my focus while teaching about the Book of Mormon but it was really cool and helped us build a relationship with the person we were teaching. Some other surprises today included getting a little PJ Max toy from our recent convert, Laysa (It is currently on my desk) and learning that our friend Pablo made his own computer! It was awesome! (May or may not have found out he plays Hollow Knight and watched him play a little.... I repented!😆)

Friday - Hit 7 months! During our comp study today, we discussed how various movies connected to the Gospel of Christ and the lessons we teach. We discovered the following:
- Restoration: Joseph Smith, the Prophet of the Restoration
- Plan of Salvation: Soul
- Gospel of Jesus Christ: Narnia
- Become a Disciple of Jesus Christ: Star Wars? (actually not sure here, if you have an idea, send me an email!)
We also had lunch with a member again! Iraci! I also may or may not have broken a toiled again on the mish and deattached the toilet seat and reattached it again😅

Saturday - Woke up this morning to go clean the church and learned we would have a baptism tomorrow for Sueli. When we went to clean the "pool" (our font), the lid wouldn't open to drain the water so with the next best option.... we began pailing with buckets! Elder Da Silva and I ended up draining all the water with buckets while the other Elders went to do the interview with Sueli. Let's just say, I think I threw more buckets of water than "100 bottles of sprite on the wall, 100 bottles of sprite, you take one down, pass it around, 99 bottles of sprite on the wall". But we were able to clean the pool! We also heard a dog make a chicken noise today while walking. It was really weird.
Cleaning the font!Sunday - HAD THE FIRST CHARLIE HORSE OF MY LIFE! (Note to self: STRETCH!) I ended up giving a talk today about Goals and how God's goal is to bring about our salvation, Jesus's goal is for us to be perfect how he is and we can do this by search for Christ in our life and having the presence of the Holy Ghost to deepen our conversion to God to do his will. It was my first talk on the mish in the field. I also had my first rootbeer float! (without actual rootbeer) I also learned about transfers and sadly, I will be loosing my son, Elder Da Silva. He will be transfered to Curitiba with a Brazilian companion and a ward to help him learn and grow his desire to serve. He has been having some hard times with the mission but I truly believe this will be best for him and that there was a purpose I met him and trained him for a bit. I think I did my part in his training and I hope all will be well for him. Please keep him in your prayers! I will recieve another new mission named Elder Salmon (THE FISH'S ARE TAKING OVER PALMERIA!). He is an american and I will get to meet him tomorrow!

Ps5? [Mom note: No, they didn't buy it] |
Truly, I have come to realize to forget myself and love the work by loving the people. We are bringing literal joy and salvation and answers and peace to those who are looking for it. Many people think we are weird for doing this for 2 years but truly, 2 years isn't a lot of time when we think about the great scheme of life. It is a blessing not only to me, but to everyone I meet, my family, friends, and posterity. To anyone who is thinking about serving, please think about these questions and if you answer yes to all of these, I think you have your answer:
1. Is Christs Mission Divine?
2. Is the Book of Mormon the word of God?
3. Is Joseph Smith the Prophet of the Restoration?
I love you all and I look forward to see what 2024 has in store of us!
Ate mais!
